The art of paper casting
is hardly new with the Chinese having invented it more than a thousand years ago. It is a media I
have found to be ideal for casting my bas-relief sculptures as the purity of the white linen paper both underlines and accentuates
the essence of my design concepts.
In my mind, sculpture is ultimately about form and texture.
By creating work with cast paper I can incorporate an infinite variety of shapes, forms and textures into my sculpture
that allow for the unbridled expression of power, movement and emotion.
I find that the ethereal qualities of
cast paper sculpture are endlessly fascinating to explore. I love creating three dimensional surfaces that
can both enliven light and be made so as to appear to float or hover when installed in place.
One could say that my style defies description. I can and love to create cast paper sculpture
in a variety of styles ranging from realism to the abstract.
